A rich history
From Auto Retro to Auto Classics
In 1980, Auto Retro was created in the enchanting Boudewijnpark in Sint-Michiels Bruges. This was the beginning of a growing oldtimer fair, where "special cars", oldtimers, motorcycles, camping cars, jukeboxes, parts and miniature sellers gathered. It turned out to be a true meeting place for oldtimer lovers.
After three successful years in the Boudewijnpark, Auto Retro moved to a new location. For the years 1985 and 1986, we opted for the spacious parking of het Zand in Bruges. Year after year, the number of visitors continued to grow. The underground parking of ‘t Zand offered the advantage that visitors did not have to worry about parking problems, which was an important plus.
Since 1987, Auto Retro has found a permanent place in the Beursgebouw, located near ‘t Zand. Initially, the event took place during the third weekend of October, but from 1992 it moved to the third weekend of January.
In 1992, Auto Retro managed to conquer the hearts of lovers with the introduction of central themes. Over the years, we have paid homage to various brands, such as Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, Renault, Mercedes, Minerva, Maserati, Corvette, Ferrari, BMW, MG, Citroën, Porsche, and more.
In 2005, we celebrated the 25th anniversary with a tribute to the legendary Citroën DS ID, along with the 50th anniversary of the Mini models. Auto Retro continued by, among other things, putting Bentley, Volvo and Lotus in the spotlight in later years.
In the following years, brands such as Mercedes-Benz SL, VW Beetle, Porsche Speedster, Fiat 500, Citroën ID-DS, Morgan and many others were central to our events. The rich past of Auto Retro has brought lovers of classic cars and car enthusiasts together for many years, and continues to celebrate the history of these iconic vehicles.
After many years of unforgettable meetings, we continue our commitment to classic cars under the name Auto Classics.

Children are more than welcome at Auto Classics, as we are a family-friendly event. Are you planning to come with your family? Then definitely buy a ticket for everyone. Children under 10 will be permitted to visit Auto Classics for free.
